Concrete polishing involves several stages. First, the floor is prepped by cleaning away any dirt, grease, or coatings, like old sealants or paint. If there are any cracks or holes, these need to be repaired first so we have a good base to work with.
Next comes the grinding stage. Heavy-duty grinders fitted with diamond-embedded discs are used to remove the top layer of the concrete. Coarse-grit diamonds are used at this point to level out the surface. Once that’s done, we move on to using medium-grit diamonds which smooth the surface even further and get rid of any scratches left from the initial grinding.
The polishing stage is where the magic really happens. Fine-grit diamonds, sometimes up to 3000 grit, are used to polish the floor to the desired level of shine. The finer the grit, the glossier and more reflective the finish becomes.
